This past month has flown by, with Sandy experiencing so many new adventures. Haley has her on a swimming program, frequently bringing her to the town forrest to fetch sticks. Every time she’s gotten more and confidence and waded out further and further. Today she finally got all 4 paws stroking in the water! On top of loving swimming in the river, she has gotten over her fear of the bathtub (probably from lots of stick mats full of cream cheese). She’s now perfectly content to come in and sit on the mat while we brush our teeth.

She continues to get faster, better at catching and fetching, and increasing her endurance hiking. She and Maple tackled the Blue Hills, and later she slept outside in a tent in anticipation of next weekend’s trip to the Berkshires.

Her lips do snag on the occasional tooth, which have been falling out a lot recently. We’ve slowly gotten used to pulling plush toys out of her mouth stained with blood. She still thinks Brendan’s lap is big enough for her to sit and chew in, which is debatable. Sandy isn’t quite sure what to make of Haley exercising outside in the nice weather. Pushups seem very enticing for kisses, and lifting weights over your head is fascinating to her.

The baby gates no longer keep her in, so we’ve reluctantly caved and let her have access to the living room and stairs. She particularly likes going after the corner of the rug. Thankfully she still comes running at the sound of treats or squeakers, so the living room is still in one piece (for now). On the plus side, our hips are less strained from hoping over them, and now Sandy gets to run up and down the stairs before and after every nap.
